Customer Reviews
Don't know why there was so many bad reviews on this coffee maker, i have had no problems at all and has been the best coffee pot i have ever owned. only had it for a couple of months so we will see.
I purchased this coffee maker as my first coffee maker ever as a senior in college. I went to target after seeing a sale where this maker was being offered for 34.99. I went home and was slightly confused with the directions, as I had never made my own pot of coffee before, there were a lot of different gadgets inside of there. But, alas, I made my first cup of coffee after reading a few reviews on-line as to the perfect ratio of ground coffee to water...
I have now had this coffee maker for 3 months and I have to say, I really love it. I have not had any of the problems of the earlier poster; no leaks, no spills, no nothing. I have since started grinding my own coffee beans and have improved a whole lot at brewing since my first cup but I really like this product and the water filters come in handy when you have horrible water like we do at our rented house in Indiana...
And really, it still is. My only problem is that the burner plate is corroded, something I did to myself. I need reading glasses, so saw a smudge that wouldn't come off (without the glasses) and used a green scrubby pad on it. Must have got through the paint in a spot, and since then the rust has been growing.
Works great (didn't use the timer, just turned on manually) and made a great tasting pot day after day. If it got slow in brewing, I'd clean it with some vinegar and it came right back and brewed like it was brand new.
Another reviewer commented on the possible military applications for the clock light, and she's right. It is bright! In fact, I think a soldier using NODs in a tactical situation would get momentary wash out looking directly at this clock, it is that bright. It would be nice to have a dimmer, but it is in the kitchen and I don't sleep there. Okay, normally. But if I'm sleeping on the kitchen floor, the lights are on and loud music is probably also playing, so who cares about a stupid clock light?
So today, I'm buying a Mr. Coffee MRX36. I like the added features the FTX-29 lacked: like on/off audible signals, adjustable auto shut off from 2-4 hours, cup warmer, decanter mat for the table, and this model is also red which I decided looked good in the kitchen. (But a square permanent filter? May take some getting used to.) And it looks like the same style clock. Doh!
