Cuisinart DCC 100 Coffee Bar Classic 10 Cup Coffeemaker, White

Product Description

This Cuisinart coffeemaker is ideal for the coffee drinker who wants the flavor of café coffee at home. It all starts with the specialized Coffee Bar flavor system, which revolves around a dial on the top of the machine that allows you to set the number of cups to brew. The coffeemaker automatically regulates the right amount of water through the grounds. Just like that--a better cup of java.

The rest of the machine is also topnotch, and is focused on providing better coffee in a user-friendly format. The features include a sturdy 10-cup carafe (with a specialized lid to keep oxygen out during brewing, thus preserving the flavor), a pause feature--which makes it possible to remove the carafe midbrew to pour a cup--a water window that shows how much water needs to be poured in for different amounts of coffee, and an easy-to-read instruction manual to get everything started. The bottom line: all these features add up to good coffee. This coffeemaker measures 13-1/4 by 9-3/4 by 8 inches (height by width by depth). --A.J. Rathbun

Review Date: October 23, 2001, from Buffalo, NY USA reviews Good coffee, great warranty and service
I've been using DCC-100 for about 2 years. This coffee maker makes by far the best coffee. I've tried so many different machines. If you like dark strong coffee like me, you will like this machine. The slow brewing option for 1-3 cups is really great for brewing just a mug full of coffee. It is true that you have to be careful with the placement of the brewing basket, etc., but I had worse problems with other manufacturers' machines. The spring on the brewing basket gets weak after a year or so, and coffee starts to leak. However, it comes with a 3-year warranty. When I contacted their customer service by e-mail, they sent me a new brewing basket for free by UPS. I received it within a week, and could enjoy the good coffee again.

I am so happy with my new Cuisinart DCC-100 coffee maker. What a cup of coffee it makes!! I know that the coffee and the water all factor into what makes a good cup of coffee, but believe me, the maker makes a big difference, too. It was very obvious that the Cuisinart made a superior cup to my Bunn. And the price...well you can't beat paying less than half the MSRP. I highly recommend this product.

Review Date: May 18, 2009, FYI from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico reviews SIMPLY WONDERFUL COFFEE (I read many positive/negative ratings for top-selling coffee makers)
I'm writing this to save you the extensive time it took me to plow though a myriad of reviews, rated from 5 to 1 star. People take their coffee makers seriously. After reading this till my vision blurred, there was a point where it seemed the only way to avoid complications was to use a funnel or cone filter holder, put in the paper filter & coffee, and pour boiling water through it. I actually did this. It's a pain.

It was some time since I'd purchased a coffeemaker; the last was a Braun with filters, but its coffee was never quite hot or tasty enough. I'm picky about a good cuppa joe and wanted a reliable model. With all the choices out there, I had decide: do I order a coffeemaker that was $150, now reduced to $70, and/or one with a carafe, or bells and whistles, or steam processing, filters, etc., basically a mini robot (R2D2, Wall-E), or what!?

This Cuisinart model was exactly the right choice: no fuss and it brews great coffee. Many months later, it still works wonderfully. I don't care about pre-settings, and it isn't too big. Since I have a separate grinder, it doesn't need to masticate for me. Or whistle. Or beep. You can always pour extra coffee into a thermos if you brew too much. It has a setting for up to only four cups that consistently produces a rich broth.

Just be sure and pay attention to the settings on the top and front, indicating the amount of water processing. Watch the little red ball as you fill the water container prior to brewing, as it takes a bit more water to produce the four cups marked on the carafe. There is less water after brewing. The slashes between the numbers on the water tank indicate odd numbers for cups: slashes between 2 - 4 - 6 = 3 cups, 5, etc. Use a measuring cup to fill the water tank to save bother with the glass pot. This all sounds a lot more comlicated than it is. This is all totally straightforward, and explained in the simple manual. Great coffee, with fine Cuisinart quality, and precise design on the carafe. You can't go wrong at this price. Good luck & enjoy!
